Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 21, 2026

ChromaMuse ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ChromaMuse (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Photos and Images

When you use our color analysis feature, you may upload or capture a selfie using your device's camera or photo library. These images are used solely for the purpose of analyzing your personal coloring (skin tone, eye color, hair color) to generate your color palette.

  • Photos are transmitted securely to our servers for AI processing.
  • Photos are processed in real time and are automatically deleted from our servers after analysis is complete.
  • We do not store, share, or use your photos for any purpose other than providing the color analysis service.

1.2 Generated Content

AI-generated outfit and makeup images created through the App are stored on our servers to enable the Digital Closet feature. These generated images do not contain your personal photos; they are AI-created illustrations based on your color palette preferences.

1.3 Account and Usage Data

  • Color Analysis Results: Your seasonal color type, palette data, and preferences are stored to personalize your experience.
  • Purchase Information: Subscription and credit purchase records are managed through Apple's App Store and are subject to Apple's privacy policy.
  • Device Information: We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system version, language preference) to improve app performance and compatibility.
  • Usage Analytics: We may collect anonymized usage data (features used, session duration) to improve the App. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number (no account registration required).
  • We do not collect location data.
  • We do not collect contacts or address book information.
  • We do not use tracking technologies for advertising purposes.

2. Face Data and Photo Processing

ChromaMuse analyzes photos you provide in order to detect skin, hair, and eye color for seasonal color analysis. When you request an analysis, your photo is transmitted from the app to our backend server (hosted on Railway), which acts as a secure pass-through proxy so that our API credentials are not exposed in the app. Our backend immediately forwards your photo to Google's Gemini API, hosted on Google Cloud Platform, which returns a color analysis result.

We do not store your photos. Photos are held in memory on our backend only for the brief duration of the analysis request and are discarded as soon as the result is returned. We do not write photos to disk, object storage, or any database, and we do not retain copies on any server we control.

Google's processing of images sent to the Gemini API is governed by Google's Gemini API terms and privacy policy. We do not perform facial recognition or identification, do not generate a face mesh, and do not use ARKit face tracking.

Analysis results (such as your seasonal color type and recommended palette) and any photos you save are stored only on your device. They are deleted when you remove them within the app or uninstall the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the color analysis service.
  • Generate personalized outfit and makeup recommendations.
  • Store your color palette and generated content in your Digital Closet.
  • Process subscription and credit transactions through Apple's payment system.
  • Improve and optimize the App's performance and features.
  • Respond to support requests.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

  • AI Processing Services: Your photos are temporarily transmitted to our AI processing partners (e.g., Google Gemini API) for color analysis and image generation. These partners process data according to their own privacy policies and do not retain your images after processing.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL.
  • Automatic deletion of uploaded photos after processing.
  • Secure cloud infrastructure for data storage.
  • Regular security assessments and updates.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

  • Uploaded Photos: Deleted immediately after analysis (typically within seconds).
  • Color Palette Data: Retained as long as you use the App or until you request deletion.
  • Generated Images: Retained as long as you use the App or until you delete them from your Digital Closet.
  • Usage Analytics: Anonymized data may be retained for up to 24 months for product improvement.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Delete Your Data: You can delete all your personal data, including your color analysis results and generated content, through the App's Profile settings ("Delete My Data" option).
  • Camera and Photo Access: You can revoke the App's access to your camera and photo library at any time through your device's Settings.
  • Cancel Subscriptions: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple App Store account settings.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to access, rectify, and port your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Contact us using the information below to exercise these rights.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

9. Third-Party AI Provider — Google (Gemini API)

All AI-powered features in ChromaMuse — color palette analysis, outfit generation, makeup generation, and outfit scoring — are powered by the Google Gemini API, operated by Google LLC.

What is sent to Google:

  • Selfie photos you take or upload (for color palette analysis).
  • Outfit photos you upload (for outfit scoring).
  • Your color palette and style selections (for outfit and makeup image generation).

How Google handles your data: Google processes this data solely to return the analysis or generated image to ChromaMuse. Google does not use your inputs to train its models and does not retain them after processing is complete. Google's processing is governed by the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum, which provide data protection commitments equivalent to those offered by ChromaMuse.

Your consent: On iOS, ChromaMuse requests your explicit consent before sending any data to Google for the first time. You may decline, in which case AI features are disabled. Once granted, your consent is stored on your device and is not re-requested on subsequent uses.

Other third-party services:

  • Apple App Store / RevenueCat: For app distribution and in-app purchase management.
  • Firebase (Google LLC): For anonymized crash reporting and usage analytics.
  • Meta (Facebook SDK): For anonymized marketing analytics (no personal photos are shared).

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these services.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
